Copper Rose
One of the first paintings I ever created, this remains a symbol of where I have been and where I continue to go.
This mixed-media painting centers on a single preserved rose, its stem and leaves carefully embedded against a warm, textured ground. The surface carries layers of muted copper, violet, and teal, creating a quiet, atmospheric field that feels both timeworn and luminous. Circular impressions and softened marks beneath the paint suggest touch, repetition, and the passage of time.
The rose is no longer in bloom, yet it remains intact, held rather than displayed. Its presence speaks to devotion, memory, and the human instinct to keep what mattered, even after its original moment has passed. Nothing here is restored or corrected; the work honors the flower exactly as it is, weathered and dignified.
Please note: The print in the image appears larger than the 11x14 print.
