Saying Goodbye
This mixed-media painting evokes a sense of quiet reverence—an offering rather than a declaration. A deep, layered blue ground holds subtle movement and texture, suggesting water, sky, or the internal landscape of reflection. Pressed botanical elements arc gently across the composition, anchoring the piece in the natural world while also feeling intentional and ceremonial.
The preserved greenery and single pale bloom feel both delicate and resolute, as if placed with care rather than arranged for display. Their presence speaks to memory, tending, and the human impulse to mark moments with living things. Scratched lines and embedded forms beneath the surface hint at history—what has been held, released, or carried forward unseen.
This piece invites stillness. It rewards slow looking and creates space for contemplation, grief, gratitude, or grounding. Ideal for viewers drawn to textured, nature-inspired work that honors impermanence while affirming continuity, it functions as both artwork and quiet companion.
I created the original painting in this 11x14 print with flowers from my grandmother's funeral, and I'm reminded of her every time I see it.
